Making The Most Of Gold Charms
Gold is by far the most recognized metal in the world and is the leading metal used in creating all types of jewelry. Gold necklaces, earrings, bracelets and of course gold charms are popular in every country, even though gold first became popular in early Egypt. From its first use as a metal to make gold charms for protection and luck, it is now a cherished component of jewelry and fashion the world over.
Gold charms, like most gold jewelry, are typically going to be made of yellow gold. In addition to yellow gold there is also white gold and rose gold, with all three requiring approximately the same care. Rose gold has a very noticeable pink or reddish tint to its coloration and it is generally used as an accent gold on charms with striking results.
Silver, platinum and white gold all look somewhat similar to most people, although experienced jewelry collectors and jewelers can easily and quickly tell the difference. Most white gold charms and charm bracelets, as well as other jewelry types, is going to be slightly more expensive than yellow gold but not as costly as platinum.
Gold jewelry and gold charms are very easy to keep looking rich and dazzling. Unlike silver, gold charms tend to resist any type of discoloration and are not going to tarnish. In addition gold that is worn often gets a soft, rich coloration that is part of the allure of this metal as a perfect jewelry metal.
The only possible issue with gold charms getting dirty has to do with oil from the skin or other compounds trapping dirt in the crevices and shapes that are a part of many gold charms. Gold charms with a flat surface won?t have this problem, but even the small amount of dirt that is collected can be easily removed.
Cleaning the details just requires a quick brushing using a soft toothbrush or a special jewelry cleaning brush. Don?t use a scrubbing brush or anything metal or harsh as this can scrape the surface and leave scratches. Scratches will then cause more dirt to collect and will ruin the beauty of the gold harms in your collection.
To clean the bracelet simply submerge the gold charms and the bracelet in warm water and a very gentle detergent. Leave it soaking for a minute, then remove and gently use the soft brush to remove the dirt from the cracks and cervices. Wipe clean with a soft cloth that won?t scratch.
Be sure to rinse all gold charms and the bracelet thoroughly to remove any residue from the soap. Buff dry with a soft cloth and your gold charms and bracelet will be as good as new. Always check each of the gold charms to be sure the rings are still closed and have a jeweler solder them if they appear open or damaged.
