It can actually differ from state to state what is needed, so, I’ll be focusing on the requirements for Utah.

I was surprised to find out that the times from safety and emissions can actually be different depending on the year of your car. The year of the car will make all the difference in safety and emissions.

The timing for safety testing is rather simple. If your car is 1-8 years old, you only are required to come in every two years to get it inspected. If it is 9 years or older, you are then required to come in every year.

Emissions testing are only slightly different. If your car is 7 years or older it needs to be brought in every year for testing. If it 6 years and younger it only needs it every other year.

You should do everything you can to have safety and emissions done before the registration date is over. You’ll have to get a temporary registration if you go over so that you can drive and get your safety and emissions done. If you let it go over you can get a ticket for driving it around, and most shops wont work on your car.

Emissions and safety inspections can come back a negative and require some additional work before they will be able to give you your safety and emissions papers to be taken to your DMV. These problems can sometimes be little and feel inconvenient but they must be fixed before you’ll be able to register your car again.

The best way to insure that your car will pass safety and emissions the first time is to periodically do maintenance work. Make sure that little things like the engine light or other lights aren’t always coming on, and if they are get it checked out. Don’t think that the light coming on doesn’t mean anything because it is a sign that something in the engine has changed.

If you have now realized that this is your year for safety and emissions, get right on it. Don’t wait till the last day because that is usually when you forget.

by Ben Reese

So you’ve decided which car make, model and year you want for your used car and your research using online classifieds has produced a list with prices and number of car owners to contact. But before you do, you need to believe that these prices are not fixed and there is room for bargaining, even if the ad claims a fixed price. Here is what you need to do to successfully reduce prices on the cars you’re planning to purchase.

Car owners offering their vehicles for sale are interested in closing the deal as quickly as possible and with the least amount of effort. To gain the sellers undivided attention, let them know that you have arranged the finances and that you can close the deal in a relatively short period of time. This will also prove that you are a legitimate used car buyer.

One of the cardinal rules of successful negotiation is the availability of facts and details to successfully prove a point. Let the car owner know that you have information related to similar cars that match with your requirements and funding. Make sure you mention a feasible range, one that starts below the advertised price. Sound like you know your stuff.

Customers can often be deceived into buying cars at higher prices when they receive a discount. A margin for price reduction is already taken into account while setting the price and what may seem to you as a successful lowering in price may actually not be of any value at all. Remember that you need to buy the car at a reasonable market price and not based on a fake reduction on already inflated prices. Choose a reasonable price range that is close to the average price for similar cars and adjust your offer as you learn from the first few experiences.

If the discussion is being dragged unnecessarily, feel free to say that you are not interested and hang up or walk away. Several times car sellers try to prolong the negotiation to lower your resistance. Walking away at this point can often result in the car owner accepting your demand, although there are no guarantees.

Remember to be true to your commitment to buy a car with features that match your specific requirements within the initial budget. Professionals can be very persuasive while selling a used car and by listing a whole bunch of features you never needed in the first place, they manage to convince you that the price is justified. What you should do is look for flaws in the car and use their own tactics to work in your favor.

Try and maintain your authority throughout your talks and there’s no harm in throwing in a bit of charisma. Try and talk about general topics or events that interest you both and praise the owner. Do not complement his cars as this could have adverse consequences. Within a few days you should be able to secure at least a handful of cars at the price you offered and land yourself a great bargain.

by Andy Zain

The 2009 Ford escape is a major redesign of the popular range of SUV models from Ford. Boasting ease of use, an abundance of features and a high quality build with an exceptional safety record, this is a very respectable latest version of the popular range.

The Ford escape from 2009 boasts a 2. 5 l four cylinder engine, replace and a 2. 3 l engine which came in last year’s version of the model. It also has exceptionally high reliability and safety standards, which of course for a family car a very important. And you won’t be disappointed by the performance either as it has been vastly improved over previous models.

The four speed automatic transmission which was used in last year’s version of the model has also been replaced with a standard five speed transmission and there is also a six speed transmission available. With optimised gear ratios, the performance is somewhat enhanced as well.

The car also comes of more optimised gear ratios, allowing for five speed transmission though an optional six by transmission is also available should you wish to get it as an extra. It also consumes about 10 per cent less fuel than the predecessor, making it especially practical and relatively cheap to run. This is something that Ford has often managed a perfect over time.

The interior has also undergone somewhat of a redesign, having been upgraded somewhat from 2008 versions of a model. It has a two tiered instrument panel which is fully featured and very easy to use. Adding to ease of use, it also has some blue and green instrument lighting which is reliable and effective when used in the car and night.

You can easily fold the rear seats backwards allowing for more storage space, making this car highly versatile and useable and all sorts of different scenarios. The result and when folding back the rear seats gives you 66 cubic feet of storage space, especially useful if you are moving house and wanting to do some of the movement with your own car.

The car is also very comfortable, making it ideally suited to those long distance journeys for touring around the country with your family. There are plenty of extra features included, including an impressive in car entertainment system which comes as standard.

With an exceptional safety record, it should be easier and cheaper to insure than many other competing models, and the top on the lists of reliability and performance, it is unlikely will be disappointed.

by Andy Zain

The 2009 Honda CR-V is one of the latest and most impressive products from Honda. With extremely positive reviews from third party reviewing agencies and customers, this car is already proving extremely popular, topping the safety records and scoring well in reliability and a list of features.

Although this range was totally redesigned back in 2007, the design is hardly changed in this particular iteration. However, while this may disappoint some people who are hoping for something a little bit different, the sticks to the tried and tested methods and it does not disappoint. With an exception be high quality build and an abundance of extra features, very few people are likely to be disappointed.

Since the previous model was very effective and popular, they have not tried to reinvent the wheel but instead tried to add a few useful additions to the car and make some tweaks to its performance, reliability and safety.

One of the most attractive things about this car from the consumers’ point of view is the exceptionally low price. The 2009 Honda CR-V presents extremely good value for money, and no longer means that in SUV has to be restrictively expensive. If you are looking for the perfect touring or family car, and this car is certainly going to impress you.

You also get a comfortable and competent experience driving this car. The engine is not overly powerful, but it is more than enough for an average family car or a car that you are planning to tour the states with. It is very comfortable with all the extras that you would expect them all. You will no doubt find and if you buy this car, you will see that there are few very pleasant and welcome extras added them.

Safety, are also one of the most important aspects, has also been proven to be top of the lists. It is performed extremely well and safety crash tests and is often received a 10 out of 10 and also been approved by the insurance companies.

Reliability is of course one of the most important factors, and the reliability of this particular car has been shown to be extremely high. A number of independent studies have studied this car in detail and found it to be living up to everything that it advertises it to be. The 2009 Honda CR-V is definitely a welcome addition to the line of cars from Honda.
<div

A portable GPS system is a unit designed for outside usage either mounted on the bike or motorcycle or carried around when hiking, mountain climbing or jogging. Even if the functionality and the features are similar, there are lots of differences between car GPS units and portable GPS systems.

by Lewis Bird

A portable GPS system consists of a unit that is not limited to in car usage. Non-portable devices are usually older models that require cable links, but the same inconvenience is found with combinations of PDAs or Palms and GPS devices that have to be car powered in order to save battery life. The portable GPS unit is designed according to special standards that allow for outside usage in various applications and sports such as hiking, climbing, cycling, fishing and the like. There are some differences between a portable GPS system and the car GPS unit, and although the functions and the features may be the same, what differs is design.

GPS for cars are products that receive and decode signals from a complex network of satellites that permit you to figure out the current car location and help you set the route for a destination. GPS receivers are available in many designs, formats and models, with a higher or lower user-friendly rate. Inexpensive systems are easy to plug in and store, but they can be more difficult to operate and not precisely top of the range. More quality includes extra money.

The auto layout is incredibly crucial when trying to decide on a certain model. Some models of GPS for autos include monitors for map display, but the presence of the monitor on the dashboard might be uncomfortable with some automobile designs. You have got to ensure that the device doesn’t block the air vents and that it does not ruin the view from the passenger’s seat. GPS for autos so have to be chosen so as to match the dashboard features and the entire interior auto design for maximum of potency and convenience.

Multiple features! This is one other vital criterion of selecting GPS for cars. There are folk who like to have numerous ways available to get info on the simplest way to reach destination. Some GPS receivers will help you navigate by trying the information from an individual addresses book, others select the location straight from the map, while others can operate by junction or at once by address. Moreover, following the same line of thought you should purchase a GPS for autos that will give both graphical and vocal directions. Besides verbal directions, the GPS monitor displays arrows to indicate the direction, decides the position of the car as related to the destination and shows the name of the street.

Details on hotels, restaurants, ATMs, airports and lots of other sites are available with good GPS for cars. Normally, such a device is a bit more expensive, but information is crucial when traveling a lot. Moreover, very advanced GPS systems can make updates about the points-of-interest from a certain region. Given the multitude of features, it may seem hard to find the right GPS for cars. Testing the product could be the wisest thing to do under the circumstances, and retailers should be able to show you demo units available in their store. Then, the features of a GPS unit will be a lot easier to appreciate!

by Johann Ken Flanders

When you are inadvertently caught committing a motoring offence, it is vital that you seek professional advice as soon as you can. The problem with this is that you will quite often have to pay a consultation fee in order to have access to the best advice.

This doesn’t have to be the case as there is a wealth of high quality advice and free consultation options online. Occasionally we all slip over the speed limit, but in the busy world of today when everyone has so much on their minds, quite often it is difficult not to. Lots of people inadvertently commit minor offences, more often than not through a few seconds lack of concentration and are then confronted with fines, points on their licence or even a ban from driving.

When accused, you will either want to plead guilty if you accept that you have committed the offence, or defend your case if you do not. Unless you know the ins and outs of motoring law extremely well, you will need to seek professional advice as if all of the correct procedures are not precisely met; a case can be thrown out of court.

When seeking legal advice, it will be most beneficial to seek out a specialist in the field so that you don’t end up with a divorce specialist defending you about a road offence. The really good solicitors will most of the time end up covering most of their own fees in fines savings and prevention of general inconvenience. Each case will differ obviously, but in most cases a good solicitor will be able to sway the outcome in your favour.

The important thing is not to stick your head in the sand, if you do then you will only make things worse. If you are proactive about your pending conviction then you have far more chance to alter the outcome. If you act today then you will give your solicitor the maximum possible chance to achieve the best possible result for you. Even if you plan to represent yourself, seeking professional free advice is the best way to prepare yourself before you enter the courtroom.

A courtroom can be a fairly daunting place and by gathering all of the professional advice and information you can beforehand you can create an effective defence for yourself. Or you may decide, once hearing the professional advice to get a specialist solicitor to represent your case for you.

by Michael Smith

The first step in getting cheap auto glass is deciding whether you need a repair or replacement, of which a replacement is going to cost more. The bigger the crack that you have on your windshield, the more likely it is that you’re going to need a replacement.

You’re more likely to need a full replacement if you have cracks right at the center of your windshield, at the edge of the windshield, an/or cracks, which make for an uneven surface on the glass. You can expect a repair to set you back around $40 and a replacement to set you back about $200.

A lot of times, we assume that the worst is going to happen when we some any crack in our windshield. We start thinking that it is only a matter of time before the whole thing shatters. This isn’t really the case, especially with really small cracks. Because your windshield is made up of two layers (one glass layer than is sandwiched in between two plastic layers), there’s a very good chance that that crack isn’t going to get that worse.

If you want to stay safe, however, it is advised that you call an auto glass service in your area. The crack may start getting bigger and bigger. And, before you know it, you’re going to need a full replacement of your windshield.

If you realize that you need a full replacement of your windshield, you shouldn’t worry too much about the cost as you can easily find a very cheap windshield from a junkyard. Because color is certainly not an issue when you’re dealing with glass, there’s a very good possibility that you’re going to find an inexpensive windshield.

However, when you find a pre-owned windshield, don’t think of installing it yourself as you may very well cut yourself. Simply take the used windshield you found and pay an auto glass company in the neighborhood of $40-$60 to install the windshield.

Wouldn’t your auto insurance policy pay for the cost to repair or replace a damaged windshield?

It depends. If the windshield got damaged in an accident, in which the other party was found to be at fault, their property damage liability will pay for the cost to repair the windshield. If, however, the crack appeared from no apparent accident you’re going to need comprehensive insurance to pay for the damages. If you don’t have comprehensive coverage, then you’re out of luck.

Regardless of these facts you should talk to your insurer to see what their specific policies are.

by John Vincent

Scrappage is a relatively new scheme which has been introduced by several governments on both sides of the Atlantic. Under the scheme citizens of each country involved are offered several thousand units of currency toward the purchase price of a brand new car. In exchange for this money they must trade in their old car which has to be at least 10 years old. The old car is then immediately crushed.

These Scrappage schemes have all been hailed for addressing environmental concerns. Some regions even state emissions requirements for the new vehicles being bought.

This environmental angle has also been pushed by the motor trade. For example the chief executive of the UK’s Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders Ltd has been quoted as saying “smaller, lower CO2-emitting cars are taking the lion’s share of registrations, which will have a positive impact in reducing emissions…”

Sounds good doesn’t it? But there’s a problem. In reality building one brand new car uses more energy, creates more pollution and generally does far more environmental damage than running an ‘old banger’ for an additional 100,000 miles.

The thing is our governments know this perfectly well. They just don’t think it’s as important as rebuilding our flagging economies and I’m not about to start a debate about which *is* more important either. All I am trying to say is that you are being sold a lie if you believe that taking part in a Scrappage scheme will benefit the environment. It isn’t a green option, it’s simply about the money.

So what then about the disgusting smoke-belching wrecks we sometimes get stuck behind in traffic jams? Surely it’s a good idea to have few less of those on our streets? Of course it is but Scrappage schemes don’t address this problem at all. Does anyone honestly believe that the kind of person who runs old scrap on a shoe-string budget is the target market of such schemes? Even if they were the target do you really believe that knocking ten to fifteen percent off the asking price of a new car is enough to persuade someone to spend the *total* cost of their existing car every single month for the next 5 years?!!? It’s a bit of a leap of faith don’t you think?

The people who will take part in, and benefit from, Scrappage schemes are middle income, middle class professionals. They are the group of society most likely to be considering the purchase of a brand new car and also, coincidentally, the same group of people most likely to be persuaded by a cleverly worded advertising campaign about saving the environment. Unfortunately they are also the drivers of the older but perfectly serviceable vehicles which we should be encouraging the continued use of rather than buying new.

If you’re still not convinced might I suggest you take a trip to your nearest new car lot and ask them about the quality of cars they have had to scrap under the scheme. I think you may be surprised by the answers you get.
<div
