Exercise journals help you track and analyze your progress. When you are able to see what activities have positive results and which have negative results, you will know how to adjust your training program to make yourself stronger, healthier, and better.</p><p>Essentially, when you are journaling make sure you create a detailed record of the muscle group trained, each movement used in that training, and how many reps you performed of each movement. For example, assume one day of your cycle focuses on triceps using arm extensions and dips. Your journal entry would be similar to this: Triceps- Dips (8 reps), Arm extensions (12 reps). Also, note the total time you trained and the time spent on each movement.</p><p>The more detail you can provide, the better you will be able to understand your progress. When you begin working toward fitness over 40, you cannot over-document your progress. As you learn more about how your body responds to strength training, you will learn which information is the most helpful and can modify your journal accordingly.</p><p>Another benefit to journaling is to be able to quickly identify when you overwork a muscle group and correct it. If you overwork a muscle group, especially in the beginning of a session, you will notice that you are unable to do as many reps later in the session. Also, if you notice unusual pain or need an unusual amount of rest you should be able to pinpoint the aspects of your training session that caused the injury. Therefore, you can keep yourself from repeating the injury or causing more damage.</p><p>Your warm up routine should also be tracked, including cardio, weights, and stretching. If your muscle gain is not what you expected or if you are sore afterwards, this could be from an inadequate warm up. You will want to compare periods of substantial progress to period of little or none and see how your warm up varied. Then, you will be able to adjust your routine accordingly.</p><p>Most fitness experts agree that you should also chronicle your nutrition, such as protein, carb, and fat intake. This is especially true if you are bodybuilding over 40 because your metabolism is changing. Also, you should note the amount of calories you are consuming and when. If you find that you are not able to build muscle, you may not be eating enough calories to counteract your exercise. If you are putting on extra weight, you may have to decide to eat fewer calories or perform more cardio.</p><p>It is also good to track your energy levels and motivation. Create a numbered rating system to describe your mood. Everyday, especially the day after training, record your number. Pay attention to the days you have the most energy and, more importantly, the days when you feel sore or sluggish. If you notice that changes you have made to your training program overly exhaust you or cause pain, you may have to lower the intensity a bit until your body adjusts.</p><p>No matter how much you have prepared for bodybuilding over 40, you are probably not going to start with the perfect program. Most competitive bodybuilders know that they get the maximum results when they use exercise journals to track and modify their progress. If you keep a journal, you will have a tool to create a great fitness plan tailored to your body, your life, and your fitness goals.</p><div

They may experience tingling in their fingers or numbness or pain in their hand and wrist. This can range from annoying to very painful. Many people end up missing work due to the severity of their symptoms. Surgical treatment is reserved for the most advanced cases, and it means several months of recovery when you might need to be off work. This is why most doctors recommend non-surgical treatment first.</p><p>If you think you have symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome, see your doctor for a diagnosis. They will perform tests to check your pain levels when your wrists are flexed and extended. They will also check for nerve sensitivity and fine motor skills. Once you are diagnosed with this condition, it will be time to begin treating it.</p><p>If your doctor finds you have an underlying illness such as diabetes or arthritis, these should be addressed first. They can contribute to carpal tunnel syndrome and make it worse.</p><p>The first thing that you are likely to be asked to do is to rest, at least for two weeks, oftentimes for more. This means that you should avoid any activities that make your condition worse, whether it is typing at your computer, art or work. This means that you may need to look for other jobs at your work place to take on.</p><p>One thing that can help you is the use of a wrist brace. Using a brace to keep your wrist steady can help your wrist have time to heal, and you can get one from the pharmacy or even have one custom made at a physical therapist. Check into local practitioners in your area and ask if they have helped others with carpal tunnel syndrome.</p><p>Once you&#8217;ve dealt with the pain issues, stretching and exercise is very effective at keeping the carpal tunnel free from compression. Recently however, scientists at Harvard and Cornell Medical Schools found conclusive evidence that shows, along with weight loss, calorie restricted diets Prolong lifespan, prevent cancer, heart problems, and type 2 diabetes. (1)</p><p>Calorie restriction is the foundation of most diets. Weight Watchers, Nutri-System, etc, work because they are low calorie diet plans.
